Taeyeon's 'Bansanka' Continues to Rise on Korean Music Charts
Singer Taeyeon's new digital single "Bansanka" is gaining traction on Korean music charts just a day after its release.
Released Monday at 6 p.m. KST, the track is the first installment of SHgold Networks and SM Entertainment's "J-POP REMAKE Vol.1" project. The song is a Korean remake of Japanese singer-songwriter tuki.'s 2023 hit, which became a viral sensation with more than 170 million YouTube views.
The music video features RESCENE members Woni and Minami as two schoolgirls, using classroom and rooftop scenes to tell an emotional coming-of-age story that matches the song's sentimental tone.
Fans have responded positively to Taeyeon's interpretation, praising the way she handles the song's rapid-fire lyrics while showcasing her signature vocals, particularly during the climactic high notes.
The remake has also shown steady growth on the charts. On Tuesday morning, "Bansanka" reached No. 1 on Bugs and Melon Hot 100 (30-day chart). It also ranked No. 6 on Melon Hot 100 (100-day chart), No. 17 on Genie, No. 19 on Melon Top 100 and No. 81 on Flo, reflecting the song's strong early response across major streaming platforms.
