Apink's Son Naeun Joins So Ji-sub in New SBS Revenge Thriller 'Kim Bujang'

Actress and former Apink member Son Naeun is stepping into new territory with SBS's upcoming action drama "Agent Kim Reactivated." She is the only woman in a male-led cast, and she says the challenge is exactly what drew her in.

A press conference for the new Friday-Saturday drama was held June 25 at SBS Hall in the Mok-dong neighborhood of Yangcheon district, Seoul. Actors So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, and Son Na-eun attended alongside director Lee Seung-young.

Son plays Sang-ah, a coworker of the title character and a figure shrouded in mystery. "It's a new genre I haven't tried before, so I was excited," she said. "More than anything, there were senior actors I had always wanted to work with at least once. There was no reason to say no."

As the only female lead among the main cast, Son admitted the position came with pressure but said the experience turned out to be a positive one. "It's true that I felt the pressure, but the set was a lot of fun," she said. "I think I was able to carry out the acting we prepared together with the senior actors. At first, being the only woman felt like a burden, but by the end, I was glad I was."

She also shared what it was like working opposite So Ji-sub for the first time. "My first scene was actually with So Ji-sub," she said. "I had always watched his work on TV, so getting to act with him in person was wonderful. He led the scenes so well that I think we wrapped things up smoothly."

"Agent Kim Reactivated" is billed as a "dad universe" revenge action drama, following the world's most ordinary father as he transforms into the world's most dangerous man to get his only daughter back. The series premieres June 26 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
