Song Hye-kyo Exits Longtime Agency UAA, Thanks Fans and CEO
Actress Song Hye-kyo has parted ways with her longtime agency after 14 years together. She shared her own message of thanks the same day the split was announced.
On June 26, Song Hye-kyo posted a photo of roses on her social media and wrote, "The time I spent with UAA was truly happy, and I'm so grateful. Every moment we shared will always stay in my heart as a precious memory. I sincerely cheer for all of UAA's days ahead." She added a short personal note to UAA CEO Park Hyun-jung, writing "Thank you, unnie" with a heart emoji, signaling a close bond.
Earlier that day, UAA confirmed the end of its exclusive contract with the actress. "Our exclusive contract with Song Hye-kyo recently expired," the agency said. "UAA and Song Hye-kyo, who have trusted each other and worked together for a long time, have decided to close this chapter and support each other's futures."
The agency added that its years with the actress would remain a happy memory. "The time we shared with Song Hye-kyo, who has been loved not only in South Korea but across Asia and around the world, will stay with us as a joyful memory," UAA said. "We ask fans for their warm support and encouragement as she stands at a new starting line."
Song Hye-kyo joined UAA in 2012 and spent about 14 years with the agency. During that run, she built her global profile through dramas including "Descendants of the Sun," "Encounter," and "The Glory," moving from a top domestic star to one of Korea's most recognizable actresses overseas.
She is now reported to be preparing a one-person agency of her own. She will return to screens in the second half of this year with the Netflix series "Slow and Intense."
