Former CIX Member Hyunsuk Joins tvN Drama 'My Bias Is My Coworker'

Former CIX member Hyunsuk has joined tvN's upcoming office romance drama "My Bias Is My Coworker," premiering Aug. 3, as fictional idol group leader Hyuk.

Actor Hyunsuk, a former member of the K-pop boy group CIX, has joined the cast of the upcoming tvN drama "My Bias Is My Coworker" (Choeae-ui Sawon). The series premieres Aug. 3 at 8:50 p.m. KST.

The drama follows Nam Da-reum, a new hire who sets out to meet her favorite idol and ends up working alongside him. It is written by Lee Young and Kim Ji-an and directed by Park Ji-hyun and Jung Da-hyung.

Hyunsuk, who recently signed with the agency Management Run, plays Hyuk, the leader of the fictional idol group D.N.X, which Da-reum (played by Kim Hye-jun) idolizes. The character is defined by his deep loyalty to his group and a strong sense of responsibility, and is expected to bring energy to the show through his leadership and screen presence.

The role marks a new step in Hyunsuk's shift from the stage to acting. He is drawing on years of live performance experience from his time as an idol, and the project is being watched as a chance to show growth as an actor after a string of earlier roles.

Hyunsuk debuted in 2019 as the youngest member of CIX, a group built around Bae Jin-young, who had previously promoted with the Mnet survival show project group Wanna One. Bae Jin-young left CIX in August 2024 after his contract with C9 Entertainment expired. The group continued as a four-member act before officially disbanding in late April of this year.

After his own contract with C9 Entertainment ended, Hyunsuk moved into acting full time and signed with Management Run. "My Bias Is My Coworker" is his first project under the new agency, and he is also said to be filming a follow-up role.

His casting fits a broader pattern in the Korean entertainment industry, where idols increasingly use acting to extend their careers after their group activities wind down. For Hyunsuk, a drama about an idol and his biggest fan offers a fitting bridge between the two worlds.
