Actress Ha Young is drawing attention for a short but striking performance in the Netflix series "Hot Blooded Teacher" (Chamgyoyuk), the streamer's current global hit.

Released on the 5th, the show casts Ha Young as Choi Ga-yoon, a high school teacher who is also the fiancée of Na Hwa-jin (played by Kim Mu-yeol), a supervisor at the Teachers' Rights Protection Bureau, and the daughter of Education Minister Choi Kang-seok (played by Lee Sung-min). Her character moves between the conviction of an idealistic educator and a tragic fate, set against the realities of school violence and the collapse of teachers' authority.

"Hot Blooded Teacher" follows the work of the Teachers' Rights Protection Bureau as it stands with victims and tries to set schools right. Since its release, it has topped Netflix's "Top 10 in South Korea Today" chart. It also reached No. 1 on Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English TV list and on FlixPatrol's Netflix Global TV Shows ranking.

Choi Ga-yoon is one of the central figures driving the story. Believing that "people can change if you keep trying," she pushes herself to keep faith in a troubled student named Cho Gyu-cheol. Her arc ends in tragedy when she is killed by a weapon wielded by that same student.

Ha Young plays the role with restraint, carrying both the character's warmth toward her students and her sense of duty as a teacher. Her final scene is especially understated, letting the weight of the tragedy land without overplaying the emotion. Choi Ga-yoon's death works as more than a single sacrifice. It becomes the moment that frames why the Teachers' Rights Protection Bureau needs to exist, and it sets the direction of the show.

Born in 1993, Ha Young studied art at Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Ewha Womans University. She later entered a graduate program at the School of Visual Arts in the United States but did not complete the degree. She made her acting debut in 2019 with the drama "Doctor Prisoner." She also appeared in "My Absolute Boyfriend" (Wolgan Namchin) as a friend of the lead character Ji-soo. She has been cast in lead roles in two upcoming projects, "This Damn Love" (Ireon Yeot Gateun Sarang) and "We Have a Chance" (Seungsan Itseumnida).
